The Volvo S60 Polestar recently arrived in SA and became an overnight sensation as most of the 25 cars allocated to the local market were pre-sold weeks before the units even arrived in the country.
The Volvo S60 Polestar is the latest, and most exciting, addition to the S60 range. Delivering a thrilling 258kW and a 0-100 km/h time of just 4,9s, this a true driver’s car. In fact, Polestar has been quoted as saying “this is the car that our racing driver’s drive to work.”
The Volvo S60 Polestar is designed to carry through Polestar’s engineering philosophy and deliver an engaging, precise and confident driving experience in all weather, on all roads and in all seasons. Development of the car has been on-going over the past few years, picking up from the Polestar C30 and S60 Concept cars as well as the Australian S60 Polestar race car. Thousands of development kilometres have been driven on twisty mountain roads, on the Autobahn and test tracks from the south of Europe to the frozen north of Sweden.

Scandinavian design is exemplified by beautiful, elegant shapes and sleek surfaces without the clutter and this can be seen in every aspect of the Volvo S60. Details such as the wide grille, daylight running lights and a LED light guide on the tail lamps, add to the Volvo S60’s striking look.
The interior is a combination of luxurious upholstery, Scandinavian wood inlays, and silk metal frames around the air vents and light controls. This all combines to create a warm and comfortable cabin.
Volvo Cars recently acquired 100 per cent of the Polestar company and brand, which means that Polestar will now be used as the model name for special high performance Volvos.
Volvo and Polestar share a long history – the two companies have been working together in motor sport since 1996 and in recent years signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop Volvo Polestar derivatives that combine a comfortable Volvo driving experience with a very high level of power and handling for the performance-minded customer.
The Polestar racing team remains under the control of Christian Dahl, the former owner of Polestar, and has been renamed as Polestar Cyan Racing.
