The V85 will not only introduce a new style of bike to Moto Guzzi fans in South Africa, but it also introduces a brand-new 853 cc V-twin engine and a new technical platform to the brand.
Available today is the V85 TT, a travelling version of the trail bike that builds on the company’s history of building very popular touring bikes and its racing legacy with the V65 and V75 Baja bikes in the Paris Dakar races of the 1980s.
To celebrate its legacy and the spirit of adventure, Moto Guzzi has partnered with Ewan McGreggor, a well-known enduro bike rider and actor, who will act as brand ambassador for the brand and the V85 specifically.
About the V85 TT
At the heart of the new V85 TT is an 853cc air-cooled V2 engine with two overhead valves per cylinder.
The V85 TT Enduro Premium version is equipped with several creature comforts including cruise control, LED-enabled daytime running lights (DRLs) and a digital 4.3” display with smartphone integration. This allows you to link your phone, via the Moto Guzzi app, with the V85 to listen to music, open the navigation, make calls via Bluetooth and access a host of trip and bike information on your phone.
This model has a red-painted frame, white and yellow paint scheme and the Mandello Eagle – Moto Guzzi’s official logo – stitched into the saddle and embossed on the engine.
About Moto Guzzi
We are sure you are very familiar with the brand and its products, but as a reminder, here are some highlights:
Moto Guzzi first started building bikes in 1921, which means that in little more than a year they will be 100 years old.
In 2004, the company became part of the Piaggio Group, which is home to fellow brands Aprilia, Gilera and Vespa, to name a few.
All Moto Guzzi bikes are still hand-built, and it is the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer with continuous production.
All Moto Guzzi motorcycles are known for their transverse mounted V2 engines and the V85 is no exception.
Italian Motorcycle Importers (IMI) is the official distributor of Moto Guzzi and Aprilia in South Africa. As the official distributor, it is fully equipped to sell and service these motorcycles and it will support current owners with any servicing and warranty requirements. With the goal of creating an emporium for all things Italian, IMI not only sell these brands, but also sells and supports brands such as Stylmartin, Italy’s famous maker of motorcycle shoes, Super Veloce, the maker of very exclusive hand-built coffee machines, and it is partner to Cafè Mauro, slow-roasted Italian coffee.
